Red French Chateau Prieure Lichine Margaux 2021 wine

Before you pour yourself a glass of this Margaux wine, make sure to let it breathe for an hour. This estate has quite the history – it used to be a monastery until it was taken during the French Revolution. In 1951, a wine merchant named Alexis Lichine bought it for a steal because the vineyards were in bad shape.

He worked hard to expand the estate to 58 hectares in the Margaux region. The wine, made mostly from Cabernet Sauvignon with a bit more Merlot than others in the area, is carefully crafted in different batches before being blended together. It’s aged in French oak barrels for 18 months, giving it a rich, velvety texture with flavors of cassis, dark plums, and blackberries, along with hints of spice and tobacco.

The first sip will hit you with flavors of dark berries and spice, with strong tannins leading to a long finish.

Red California Baca Dusi Double Dutch Zinfandel 2020 wine

Red California Baca Dusi Double Dutch Zinfandel 2020 wine

The Zinfandel grapes used in the Baca Dusi Double Dutch wine come from the Double Dutch vineyard in Paso Robles, California, where 50-year-old vines grow in rocky, alluvial soil without irrigation. The warm sun and varying temperatures help the grapes ripen while maintaining fresh acidity. After being aged in oak barrels for 14 months, the result is a well-balanced and vibrant wine with a strong aromatic profile and spicy notes.

Named BACA, which means berry in Latin, this wine pays homage to the grape itself. The Zinfandel Baca Dusi Double Dutch is a bold and expressive wine with rich flavors of sour and black cherries, currants, raspberries, and hints of herbs and black pepper. The palate offers a smooth experience with concentrated fruit flavors and soft tannins, leading to a lengthy, juicy finish balanced by lively acidity.

This wine pairs wonderfully with barbecue or roast lamb.
