Bodegas Frontonio, a Spanish winery situated in the Aragon region, was established in 2008 by Fernando Mora MW and Mario Lopez. The company oversees roughly 50 hectares of vineyards cultivated using organic methods, focusing on indigenous grape varieties to craft their refined wines, which have garnered praise from both experts and consumers. One of their signature creations is the artisanal white wine Microcosmico Macabeo, produced from Macabeo grapes sourced from a 10-hectare vineyard in Epila, situated at an elevation of around 500 meters.

The vineyard boasts vines aged over 35 years, thriving in deep calcareous-clayey soils enriched with pebbles. Following manual harvesting and fermentation in temperature-controlled cement tanks, 10% of the wine is aged in previously used oak barrels, while the remainder rests in the tanks on its lees. This lively wine presents a brilliant hue with straw yellow shades and hints of green when poured.

Its bouquet is redolent with vibrant aromas of citrus fruits and wildflowers. The palate offers a refreshing and dynamic experience, light and juicy, with a zesty and lively acidity. The finish is prolonged and citrus-infused.

This wine is perfect as an aperitif and pairs wonderfully with seafood salads and raw fish dishes.

No need to pour the wine into a decanter, but it’s recommended to open the bottle about thirty minutes before serving. Bodegas Frontonio, established in 2008 by Fernando Mora MW and winemaker Mario Lopez, is situated in Valdejalon, Aragon, Spain. The winery’s name is derived from San Frontonio, the patron saint of Epila municipality.

The brand’s ethos mirrors the rebellious spirit of the company, crafting top-quality artisanal wines with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. One of their notable wines is Supersonico, a Garnacha-based blend with a touch of Macabeo. The grapes are sourced from high-altitude vineyards facing north, above 1000 meters sea level.

The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation in oak vats after the harvest, followed by aging in wooden vats for a year before bottling. In the glass, Supersonico displays a clear color with vibrant red hues and a rich, aromatic bouquet featuring hints of blackcurrant and Mediterranean herbs over a mineral base. This wine is elegant and well-rounded on the palate, with a medium body and a crisp acidity that lingers through the long finish.

It pairs beautifully with grilled meats, pasta dishes with veal ragu, and lamb chops seasoned with herbs.
