Full-Bodied Wine from Los Chacayes, Mendoza

Alpasion Gran Malbec from Los Chacayes with ripe red and black fruit, vanilla and cocoa notes

Alpasion Gran Malbec – Intense and Full-Bodied Wine from Los Chacayes, Mendoza

This vibrant Malbec comes from the Alpasion winery, a boutique estate covering 85 hectares in the Los Chacayes area. The vineyard sits at 1,200 meters elevation on alluvial, sandy, and stony soils, providing ideal conditions for the grapes.

The winery’s name blends the Spanish words for “soul” (alma) and “passion” (pasion), symbolizing the commitment and friendship of its founders. The Malbec grapes are hand-harvested and undergo traditional winemaking including maceration and malolactic fermentation, followed by 12 months aging in oak barrels.

The Gran Malbec expresses classic varietal aromas of ripe red and black fruits, complemented by delicate hints of vanilla and cocoa. On the palate, it is bold and full-bodied with smooth tannins and a fresh acidity, finishing with lingering chocolate notes.

Ideal to enjoy now or cellar for up to 10 years. Decant for an hour before serving to reveal its full character. This wine pairs wonderfully with barbecued dishes and roasted meats.

Produced from vines younger than 10 years, this Malbec from Alpasion’s organic estate in Mendoza features deep red color with violet hues. The grapes thrive on alluvial, sandy, stony clay soils at roughly 1,200 meters altitude.

Hand-harvested and fermented using indigenous yeasts at controlled temperatures, a portion of this wine ages in Bordeaux oak barrels, contributing complexity.

Aromas are intense and fruity, dominated by cherry, plum, and black berries, layered with subtle chocolate hints. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and rich with smooth tannins and a balanced, warm finish.

Best enjoyed now or cellared up to 10 years. Opening the bottle about 30 minutes before serving allows the wine to express its aromas fully. Excellent alongside beef brisket, grilled meats, or roast lamb.

Fasilo Gino Alteo Amarone with aromas of raisins, black pepper, coffee and vanilla

Fasilo Gino Alteo Amarone – Rich and Elegant Amarone from the Illasi Valley

The Fasilo family estate in northeastern Italy’s Illasi valley dates back to 1925 and is now managed by Matteo Fasoli, who practices organic and biodynamic viticulture on 20 hectares.

Alteo Amarone is their flagship wine, balancing the powerful richness typical of Amarone with elegant softness. Only the finest grape bunches are carefully dried for six months in wooden boxes, concentrating sugars and flavors.

Fermentation happens in stainless steel tanks, followed by a minimum of three years aging in oak barrels. The wine displays intense aromas of raisins, black pepper, coffee, and vanilla.

On the palate, it is rich and smooth with a full body, ripe dark fruit flavors, and soft tannins, culminating in a very long finish. Decant for two hours before serving.

This Amarone pairs beautifully with special meals such as fresh pasta with rich tomato sauce, beef bourguignon, or goulash.

Altesino Brunello di Montalcino with notes of dried violets, cherries and dark chocolate

Altesino Brunello di Montalcino – Refined Elegance from Historic Tuscan Estate

Housed in the 14th-century Palazzo Altesi, the Altesino winery in Montalcino is renowned for its pioneering single-vineyard “cru” Brunellos. Owned since 2002 by Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini, the estate is led by winemakers Simone Giunti and Alessandro Ciacci.

This Brunello is crafted from grapes sourced from four vineyards — Altesino, Castelnuovo dell’Abate, Macina, and Pianezzine — and aged 30 months in Slavonian oak casks, which bring polish and balance.

The wine offers medium body, fine tannins, and a strong structure, promising excellent aging potential for over a decade. Aromas include dried violets, ripe red cherries, crushed berries, and dark chocolate.

The palate is smooth with intense dark fruit flavors and a long, lingering finish. Best served after decanting for one hour.

Perfect to pair with rich, complex dishes such as osso bucco, game meats, or roast beef.
